One-Two Punch Against The Israel Haters!
1. "High-Heels" Nikki: Ready To Kick Butt At The UN!
2. Regavim Sues The UN!

Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN

President Trump may have made some questionable appointments during his first two months in office, but one can only have glowing words for the new US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley. Haley hit the ground running, letting the world know that she was no pushover. At the AIPAC conference in Washington DC yesterday, Ambassador Haley was asked how the United States can help change the culture at the UN. Her response is one for the books:

"The United States tells them what we're not going to put up with. We start to change the culture to what we should be talking about and then we actually act on what we say."

"I wear heels. It's not for a fashion statement. It's because if I see something wrong, we're going to kick them every single time."

"We are kicking by number one, putting everybody on notice. Saying that if you have our back, we're going to have the backs of our friends, but our friends need to have our backs too. "

She continued by declaring that the days of Israel bashing are "over."

"There are a lot of threats to peace and security, but you are not going to take our number one Democratic friend in the Middle East and beat up on them. And I think what you're seeing is they're all backing up a little bit, the Israel bashing is not as loud, they didn't know exactly what I meant outside of giving the speech, so I showed them."
Nikki Haley to the UN: 'The Days of Israel Bashing Are Over'

Thank you, Nikki Haley, for standing up for the United States, and for standing up for Israel in the United Nations.

Regavim, safeguarding Israel's national lands

Another significant although less-publicized event yesterday, was one involving the Israeli organization Regavim. Regavim is an Israeli legal watchdog dedicated to safeguarding Israel's national lands. They do so by identifying and taking action on illegal Arab building throughout the Land of Israel.

After decades of being on the receiving end of scores of anti-Israel UN resolutions hammering Israel with the lie that Jewish construction in eastern Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria is illegal, Regavim is suing the United Nations for illegal construction in Jerusalem!

As reported in Arutz Sheva:
The NGO Regavim which monitors illegal construction in Israel filed a petition against the United Nations to the Supreme Court Monday. The organization accused the UN of carrying out illegal construction in Jerusalem.

According to Regavim: "In recent years the UN has taken advantage of its immunity by carrying out a series of illegal construction projects in the compound on property which is State owned."

Meir Deutch, Regavim's Director of Policy and Knesset Relations said, "if the tenant [the UN] doesn't know how to behave it seems that the time has come for the government of the State of Israel to find a replacement tenant. It's no secret the UN abuses Israel at every opportunity."

Thank you, Regavim for pursuing equal justice throughout Israel. It is about time that illegal land grabs and construction are challenged!

Fwd: Congratulations David Friedman, U.S. Ambassador to Israel!

bs"d

Dear Members of Brooklyn AFSI: You might be interested in reading this pos written around the time of the proceedings to confirm his nomination.  AT the time I wrote the post I didn't know that his name was David Melech. I noted the fact that the Jewish King (tthe descendent of David HaMelech) was required to wear a Sefer Torah to constantly remind him of the Mitzvoth as it is very easy to go astray when one is in the position of power and kingship. This reminded him that even as king he is a servant to the One and Only King.

Avinu MalKeinu, Ein Lanu Melech, Ein Lanu Melech Ela Ata....

May Hashem guard David Melech and protect him and may he be a true servant of Hashem.

Congratulations David Friedman,
U.S. Ambassador to Israel!

AFSI offers a hearty Congratulations to David Friedman, newly confirmed U.S. Ambassador to Israel!

Earlier today, the Senate voted 52-46 on a procedural motion to invoke cloture, allowing for a final vote to be taken, and ensuring Friedman's nomination.

As reported, only two Democratic senators, Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), voted in favor of Friedman's nomination in the full Senate vote. Leading Senators Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), the senior Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, both voted against Friedman.

Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, congratulated Friedman following the vote: "Congratulations to David Friedman! Looking forward to working closely with you to make the US-Israel alliance stronger than ever.".

Friedman, an ardent supporter of Israel, will most likely live in his residence in Jerusalem even though the U.S. embassy is currently in Tel Aviv. Of course, we are hoping that both he and the U.S. Embassy will be together in Yerushalayim.

Upintheair
It's Still Up In The Air

Elliott Abrams, Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies, wrote the following on the Council on Foreign Relations website yesterday:

Trump policy is just taking shape and we do not know what forms of pressure were or will be put on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. But what we do know for sure is that...it would be a mistake to give the PA and PLO concessions in return for nothing and then hope for the best. It would be a mistake to reward Abbas merely for returning to negotiations he should never have left and that are not a favor to the United States or to Israel. As Trump policy develops, let's hope it treats the Palestinians as political actors (not objects of charity) with the power to make consequential decisions. And wrong decisions should have consequences, as should correct ones.

However, it was also reported yesterday that Trump's envoy Jason Greenblatt requested that Israel make concessions in advance, by ceasing construction outside of the "settlement blocs":

And, that Israel rejected the request (demand?):
Times of Israel: Israel said to reject US demand for building freeze in isolated settlements

Finally today, there are denials from Israel that Trump ever demanded that Israel limit construction:
Arutz Sheva: 'Trump never demanded Israel limit settlement construction'

Which brings us to being no closer to understanding what was requested, demanded, agreed to, rejected, or denied.

What we do understand (and we hope Trump does too) is that Israeli concessions to enable negotiations have been tried before and are fruitless and ridiculous as well as dangerous. If one side does not even recognize the other side's right to exist, there is no reason for concessions, and of course, there is no reason for negotiations.

The Latest Terror Attack in London - What It's Really About

Daniel Greenfield sums it up:

Islamic terrorists aren't trying to defeat your values. They're trying to defeat you. Allahu Akbar isn't a debate, It's the conviction that Islam will win because Allah is stronger than your God. And Muslims will prove the point and disprove your religion by killing you.

Islamic terrorists don't operate like 19th century anarchists intellectually. Even if they borrow strategic and tactical ideas from them.

They really are trying to kill you. And no you can't defeat them by asserting your values. Nice as they may be. You either beat them or they beat you. This isn't a war of ideas. The only way they win arguments is with corpses.

THE TERRORISTS AREN'T TRYING TO "DEFEAT OUR VALUES", THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL US
