Dear Member of Cong. Adath Yeshurun, amv"sh

You may or may not know Steve and Fran Epstein but you are familiar with Yeshiva Derech Hatorah because it is a local school. You may have received notices about this dinner and if this notice is redundant. Please forgive.

I had planned on sending this email out in time for a journal ad from Brooklyn Afsi including my friends from Shul  in honor of Steve and Fran Epstein and then I realized that between Pesach and all the other worthy projects, I had not noticed that time flew and the Dinner was upon us.

The good news is that I just spoke to the Office of Yeshiva Derech Hatorah and they said that they can still include an ad insert from us into the journal if we submit it tomorrow day.

Better late than never.

Steve is Director of Zionist Museum and Education Center and Fran is his supportive right hand. Steve teaches Zionism at Yeshiva Derech Hatorah.

Steve Epstein and his Eishes Chayil Fran really deserve this honor.  They have hosted many wonderful lectures on Zionism and Eretz Yisroel in the Fein lounge at Kingsway Jewish Center always with refreshing topics and refreshments included in the package. These meetings were always well planned and organized with Fran serving as the welcome person and there by the desk with a sign in sheet. Fliers are always distributed in advance of the lecture and posted around town so that there is  always a respectable showing of loving activists for Israel at their events.  The speakers were extremely dedicated and professional and men and women of action. They included our very own AFSI Chairman Mark Langfan, and AFSI Executive Director Helen Freedman, ZOA Eytan Sosnowhich, Honenu Shalom Pollack, Hadassah joint event featuring Palmach and Lipa Shmeltzer  and we enjoyed the well researched and delivered lecture by the  Morah D'Asra of Kingsway Rabbi Goldstein before he made Aliya and many many more illustrious names. Just ask Steve....  .  STeve and Fran truly love the Land of Israel, and the State of Israel with a passion and their speakers reflect that love as well!  There is a  breath of fresh air, Avira of Eretz Yisroel,  on these very special nights in Brooklyn when the Zionist Museum hosts their events.

In addition to being Director of the Zionist Museum Steve has developed a curriculum to teach Zionism in Yeshiva Derech Hatorah and I know that it is a labor of love focusing on the Biblical connection to the Land of Israel and not merely from 1948..

Often he will be asked to speak at other venues such as Senior Citizens centers on Zionism and he has spoken at Brooklyn Afsi events as well.

We have yet to find his match when it comes to passion and enthusiasm.

When Charlotte Wahl our dedicated volunteer at AFSI ob"m used to put together ads for Zionist causes and their Dinners she would ask members to contribute $36 towards the ad payable to the cause. She would call each of the members up individually to ask if they wished to participate.

Please see this email as a personal invitation as if I was Charlotte calling you up asking you to contribute to yet another worthy Zionist cause and join us in this group effort..

Yeshiva Derech Hatorah is truly a School that reflects Torah UMada, where students are taught Ivrit from when they were in Elementary school an offshoot of Mizrachi LeBanim.  Zionism is the bread and butter of Yeshiva Derech Hatorah and their students grow up with a love of Eretz Yisroel because they are  embued with a love of Torah and Eretz Yisroel  from educators and teachers like Steve Epstein who talks the talk and walks the walk.

May he and his dear wife share many years of health and happiness together sharing their love and devotion for Eretz Yisroel with many young minds, and hearts, young in years and/or young in heart and actualize his most valued expression AM YISROEL CHAI VEKAYAM!

If you are interested in participating in a group  AFSI AD please reply to this email that you will be doing so tonight and/or asap so I can include your name in the ad. Please make sure to let me know how you wish your name(s) to appear on the ad.

Then send your check in the amount of $36 payable to Yeshiva Derech HaTorah earmarked 37th Dinner in honor of the Epsteins 2810 Nostrand Ave, Brooklyn NY 11229.

A copy of the ad will be sent to all iyh.

Time Sensitive! Today Yom Hashaah Monday April 24 and Tomorrow April 25...Rena Ariel from Kiryat Arba Addresses Local Communities in Memory of Daughter Hallel Yaffa, Hy”d Kerem Hallel

bs"d

Background:
Monday, July 04, 2016
Hallel Yaffa Ariel, Videos: Hespedim and Funeral, . Mother Rina, Father Amichai and Netanyahu Speak Out.

Rena Ariel Addresses Local Communities in Memory of Daughter Hallel Yaffa, Hy"d

...Today, Monday, April 24, they will be at the HAFTR middle school in the morning, followed by a presentation at Shulamith School in the afternoon. For more information about their Woodmere appearance tonight at 8 p.m.,  859 Peninsula Blvd, Y.I. of Woodmere please contact ymorgenstern@gmail.com

On Tuesday, April 25, they will speak at Lander College for Women from 1-2 p.m. At 4 p.m. they will be addressing the JCRC-NY, 225 West 34th Street, Suite 1607. That evening, they will be back in Teaneck to address the joint sisterhoods of Congregations Beth Abraham and B'nai Yeshurun at Beth Abraham at 8:30 p.m.

...Spreading the story of their young daughter's martyrdom gives Rena and Amichai Ariel tremendous measures of comfort as they fortify their own emuna along with their audience's. That was the purpose of their trip to the U.S. last September, which included a Teaneck presentation at Congregation Beth Aaron.

Rena Ariel has decided to visit additional Jewish communities in the Metropolitan area this April, once again accompanied by Elana Abelow-Kronenberg of Efrat. Abelow-Kronenberg, a proud mother of seven, first met the Ariels when she paid a shiva call to their home in Kiryat Arba. Her compassion for their grief knew no bounds and, with the kind assistance of her husband who agreed to "hold down the fort," she came to America with the Ariels to help spread their message.

The Ariel family invites the American Jewish community to partner with them in perpetuating the memory of their beloved Hallel Yaffa, Hy''d, by contributing to One Family/Kerem Hallel. To learn more about their projects and to arrange for additional U.S. appearances, please contact yekev.arielbyehuda@gmail.com or elanam77@yahoo.com.

Rena Ariel , "To rise up from her ashes and to continue in Hallel's way, we are planning to build, with God's help, Kerem Hallel—Hallel's Vineyard—an educational center adjacent to our home. The center will invite visitors to come and hear Hallel's story, to visit the vineyards and family winery where she worked, and to support all of those who are settling the Land of Israel on a daily basis. In addition, as part of Kerem Hallel, we are also building Gan Hallel—Hallel's Garden—which will provide playground equipment for the school Hallel attended and where her sister currently attends. It is a small school that has experienced a great deal of terror. Through our efforts, we hope to revitalize it and give its students chizuk."

Please visit Kerem Hallel כרם הַלֵּל Ariel Family Winery https://www.keremhallel.com/ to be connected to this very special family and be a partner in their H-ly work.

PROTEST THE ANNOUNCED VISIT OF TERRORIST MAHMOUD ABBAS TO THE WHITE HOUSE ON MAY 3

The president of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas has been invited to meet President Trump at the White House on May 3. This invitation should never have been extended to Abbas, a terrorist disguised as a politician and diplomat.

LET THE THE WHITE HOUSE KNOW YOU OPPOSE HIS VISIT.

You can leave a comment on the White House comment line at 202-456-1414 (although there may be a wait to get through to a person who will take your comment.)

You can also send a message through the website whitehouse.gov. Just click on the Get in Touch link at the top right of the homepage.

Here is a sample email sent today:

KEEP THE UNREPENTANT TERRORIST, MAHMOUD ABBAS, OUT OF AMERICA AND OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE

As a member of AMERICANS FOR A SAFE ISRAEL/AFSI (afsi.org), I urge you, President Trump, to WITHDRAW YOUR INVITATION TO THE TERRORIST MAHMOUD ABBAS to visit you at the White House.

In 1996, when Abbas' mentor, THE TERRRORIST YASSER ARAFAT, came to NY, it was Mayor Giuliani who had the moral rectitude and courage to have Arafat evicted physically from Lincoln Center's Philharmonic hall.

We suggest that until Abbas changes the PLO Charter calling for the destruction of Israel, and until he stops funding hate education in the PA schools, and until he stops paying salaries to terrorists who murder or attempt murder on Israelis, it is immoral to allow this terrorist into the U.S., and certainly NOT into the White House.

Just as you are finding it difficult to abrogate the Iranian "deal" which Iran NEVER SIGNED, because all the goodies were delivered up front, so it will be impossible to negotiate any kind of "peace" with Abbas once he is given recognition.

Let him prove his good faith BEFORE he is treated like a dignitary worthy of being a guest in the White House.

Your Name

The True Mahmoud Abbas:

Marwan
Who is the Real Marwan Barghouti?

Much criticism--all of it fully deserved--has been directed toward the New York Times since it published an op-ed by convicted Arab terrorist/murderer Marwan Barghouti earlier this week. The Times had originally omitted any mention of Barghouti's history of terrorism and his conviction for murder, until it was hit with an uproar of protest for the omission.

Below is a short video summarizing the real Marwan Barghouti. What did he do and why is he in jail; all omitted by the New York Times.

In addition, CAMERA has just published an expose of New York Times reporting beginning at the start of 2017, detailing how readers of the Times' op-ed pages have been fed a steady diet of one-sided, anti-Israel rhetoric.

A  summary of the CAMERA report can be read here:

Fwd: UNRWA Spreads the Word that UNRWA will Introduce New Curriculum of Peace But is it all Talk and No Substance? From David Bedein Near East Policy Research. Sounds like happenings in PSFC...

bs"d

In a similar vein..

We applaud Governor Cuomo for his Executive order to reject BDS from New York State.

We applaud the City Council for passing a resolution (law 1058-A) condemning BDS in New York City.

However, such condemnations have toothless and of no real substance. Otherwise we, the Committee to abolish BDS from the Park Slope Food Coop, would have an address in Albany or in the City Council to report the Park Slope Food Coop. The PSFC have shamelessly allowed BDS to occupy their office space and use PSFC name and resources to promote BDS bias in their bi monthly newspaper and reading groups and General meetings while at the same time have been quite successful to silence those who have tried to challenge their false and deceitful narrative. They have gone so far as having a BDS website and have even prosecuted members of the PSFC who have tried to stop them and suspended them from the Coop!  This one sided pro BDS bias has been going on for 8 years in spite of the membership voting against BDS! Yet the Executive Order and the City Council resolution doesn't help us as nobody has returned our calls or responded to our letters....

Subject: UNRWA spreads the word that UNRWA will introduce
a
new curriculum of peace
To: SehgalM@gao.gov

April 5, 2017

Attn:

Ms. Mona Sehgal

SehgalM@gao.gov

Assistant Director,

International Affairs and Trade

U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO)

441 G St, NW, Washington, DC 20548

http://www.gao.gov

Dear Mona,

Wishing you success in the progress of your current GAO investigation of UNRWA.

Over the past week, UNRWA  spread the word that UNRWA intends to introduce a new curriculum for peace and tolerance in the UNRWA school system.

However, UNRWA reports widespread popular opposition to such an initiative. (1)

The fact that UNRWA admits that there is a problem in their schools represents a newsworthy development in itself.

However, the Center for Near East Policy Research checked all public and private sources in UNRWA. No intention, initiative or program exists in the UNRWA Department of Education for any change in the UNRWA curriculum.

UNRWA curricula in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and Gaza remain under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Education, which makes it clear that no plans are afoot for any change in the Palestinian Authority Education System.

Successive PA Ministers of Education have made it clear that the PA Ministry of Education runs schools with a unified curriculum for UNRWA, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. The current war curriculum of the Palestinian Authority used by UNRWA speaks for itself. (2)

The presence of Hamas in UNRWA schools speaks for itself. (3)

Why, then, does UNRWA spread the word they intend to introduce a new curriculum?

This serves UNRWA image with a new US administration at the helm. The US, indeed, pays for 33% of the UNRWA budget, which has reached $1.2 billion. (4)

UNRWA presents the US government with good intentions of UNRWA, blaming popular opinion, which would not allow UNRWA to act in a noble fashion.

UNRWA has used this PR approach in the past.

Between 2008 and 2010, UNRWA spread the news that it was going to introduce holocaust education. UNRWA dispatched professional fundraisers to raise the finance needed to teach the holocaust to the next generation of Palestinian school children.

Yet UNRWA expressed regret in 2011 that it could not implement the holocaust education program because of "popular opinion".

However, The Center for Near East Policy Research checked out this development with Michael Kingsley-Nyinah, then the director of the executive office of UNRWA in New York, who replied to our query: "I am writing to clarify that there is no 'Holocaust curriculum' as such in UNRWA schools and there are no plans to introduce one."(5)

However, UNRWA earned praise in the Jewish community because of their "intention" to introduce holocaust curriculum for the next generation of Palestinian Arab children, although such a curriculum was never planned in the first place.
