Previous email regarding this event and our Brooklyn Afsi subcommittees in formation and Afsi officers in NYC and Brooklyn: If this is the first time you are reading about this meeting then first read this link http://afsibrooklyn.blogspot.com/2015/04/fwd-save-date-brooklyn-afsi-meeting.html

Tentative Agenda for the meeting.

This is not a final version. Your input is most welcome. If you have important msg/action items to tell the group please let me know and we'll include you.

Words highlighted emphasize a particular focus of our chapter.

Please RSVP let me know if you can or cannot attend or even undecided. This way we can plan for enough chairs and space... Tell your friends about our Afsi Brooklyn Chapter and this meeting. If interested,  they should RSVP and contribute.
... Please  let me know if and how you wish to contribute: refreshments, pareve only  (see below), volunteer at the meeting by coming early to help set up, be in charge of sign in sheet, giving Dvar Torah, leading Tehillim, cleaning up, documenting, photographer, food coordinator etc.

I will iyh try to send out an excel sheet of how people wish to contribute to this meeting so we don't overlap....

To view this email and previous emails visit our AFSI Brooklyn Blog http://afsibrooklyn.blogspot.com/  Feel free to comment.

For the record...This event is worthwhile just from group correspondence before and after the meeting.

And if too many people want to come and join... we should only have that problem and cross that bridge when we come to it G-W...

We can use volunteer participants to document/video and/or photograph the meeting and hopefully we can publicize what transpired at the meeting, post it to the blog,  at least to fellow AFSI members or to those who couldnt make it, and possibly for the general public. Nowadays with smartphones it's much more doable.

7pm Meeting Begins,

... Socializing... sushi, salads, fruit and post Pesach  baked goods... complements of this group. Even if you can't attend the meeting but still want to chip in for the refreshments, that's cool.

Please coordinate with me beforehand what you wish to bring or contribute regarding the food. RSVP info above. Much thanks!
Whenever you come,
  • Please sign in. Name, email address and other contact info you wish to share, comments like any subcommittees you are interested in.  For sample lists of subcommittees see link above at start of this email. You can take this opportunity to become an Afsi Member hint hint.. (see attachment) (btw, if you want to volunteer to be in charge of sign in sheet at the event that would be appreciated... ) Give AFsI membership $ to Binyamin Magden the financial officer...
  • Look at the AFSI Chizuk Mission brochure June 3-10 2015 (see attachment) and consider joining
  • Eat. Sushi will be ordered from Rolls in Marine Park Brooklyn G-W. You can help finance the sushi order. I will be happy to help coordinate with them... fyi http://rollssushiandsalad.com/,

  • Fresh fruit or fruit salad
  • fresh pastries, (baked after Passover, can be bought from Kosher bakery or with a label which states it was made after Passover)

7:20 Torah Focus
Honored Speakers: (order of speakers to be decided...)
  • Political Focus: Rubin Margolis, President of Brooklyn region ZOA
Rubin will be speaking about his recent trip to Israel. Afsi's Executive Director Helen Freedman and Charlie Bernhaut  were in Israel with Rubin and Jeff Daube distributing Shaloch Manot and participating in a host of special Purim celebrations with the soldiers. He will also talk about Israel's upcoming elections as well as ZOA's proactive and ongoing response to the Iranian nuclear threat under the leadership of ZOA's National President Mort Klein.  There is a ZOA lobby mission next week on Capitol Hill and this discussion will surely benefit those of us who have preregistered btw,  the mission is filled to capacity but there is much activism we can do from the comfort of our homes as well.

Rabbi Schwartz was involved in the Klinghoffer protest coalition and was a keynote speaker at a Brooklyn Hadassah and Zionism Museum event honoring Palmach Heroes (his father is such a hero) http://www.jewocity.com/blog/palmach-heroes-to-be-honored-by-lipa-brooklyn-hadassah-and-the-zionism-museum/12521
  • Spreading Good PR Binyamin Magden
    • Will talk about his networking experience at the JCRC Legislative Breakfast
If you wish to be taken off this list and not receive any more notices pls let me know. Thanks.
