TODAY'S CONTENT

There is so much going on, so we include three important items of interest:

Iran
Surprise, surprise,
Iran is violating the nuclear agreement with the west.

Several days ago, there were news reports that Iran (unsurprisingly) was seeking illegal nuclear and missile technology, irrespective of the deal with Obama.

Fox News:

Algemeiner:

Bret Stephens puts it all together in his latest article in the Wall Street Journal. He writes that even with evidence of Iran cheating, Obama is trying to provide Iran with access to U.S. dollars, is in favor of the sale of Boeing jets, is pushing for the U.S. to purchase Iranian heavy water (thereby subsidizing its nuclear program), and is weighing whether to support Iran's membership in the World Trade Organization.

We have one word for this: Disgusting.

Here is Stephen's article:

Excerpt:
So let's recap. Mr. Obama says Iran is honoring the nuclear deal, but German intelligence tells us Tehran is violating it more aggressively than ever. He promised "snapback" sanctions in the event of such violations, but the U.S. is operating as Iran's trade-promotion agent. He promised "unprecedented" inspections, but we're not permitted to inspect sites where uranium was found. He promised an eight-year ban on Iran's testing of ballistic missiles, but Tehran violated that ban immediately and repeatedly with only mild pushback from the West. He promised that the nuclear deal was not about "normalizing" relations with a rogue regime. But he wants it in the WTO.

Is Mr. Obama rationalizing a failed agreement or did he mean to mislead the American public? Either way, truth is catching up with the Iran deal.

AIPAC
Does AIPAC look out for Israel's best interests,
or its own?

According to a recent article in the Washington Free Beacon, "The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the nation's foremost pro-Israel lobby, pursued a quiet campaign to weaken pro-Israel language in the Republican Party's 2012 platform...as an attempt to bring it more in line with the Democratic Party's platform, in order to reinforce the perception long promoted by AIPAC that both parties are equally pro-Israel."

The article continues: "AIPAC-backed changes to the 2012 platform included the removal of support for an "undivided" Jerusalem as Israel's capital, as well as the removal of language calling for the relocation of the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The 2008 Republican platform stated: "We support Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel and moving the American embassy to that undivided capital of Israel."

That language was not included in the 2012 version, which states: "[W]e envision two democratic states-Israel with Jerusalem as its capital and Palestine-living in peace and security."

And in today's New York Post piece, Seth Mandel ends as follows:
AIPAC values bipartisanship above all else. That means the group would rather both parties be less pro-Israel - endangering and isolating the Jewish state - than give the Democratic Party a public-relations problem.

AIPAC is reckless, myopic, delusional and unreliable. And as we now know, it's also toothless.

Tablet Magazine has a fascinating piece about AIPAC, comparing the organization to a monopolistic business entity too large to understand when the environment in which it operates changes, thus maintaining old paradigms and ceding "innovation" to others. The End of AIPAC's Israel Monopoly

Today, the Republican National Platform Committee unanimously changed 25 years of standard language in its platform, thus putting the Republican Party clearly behind the unity of Jerusalem, against BDS, removing the label of "occupier" from Israel for returning to Judea and Samaria, and more. The amendment to do so was adopted with a standing ovation by the Platform Committee. Here is the latest platform:

The Republican Party's 2016 platform position on Israel

The Republican platform position on Israel represents the shift away from what was once perceived as automatic Democratic support for Israel to overwhelming Republican support. Simply put, during this shift, AIPAC has not kept pace.

Thus, as we asked above, is AIPAC looking out for Israel's best interests? We understand AIPAC's wanting to hold onto the belief that there is equal bipartisan support for Israel within both political parties. Evidence, however, proves otherwise.

What will happen to AIPAC, only time will tell. Times are changing and AIPAC is not showing the ability or willingness to adapt. With the continued fracturing of the American Jewish community, the growing influence of conservative (small "c"), religious Jews, the leftward tilt in the Democratic party with concurrent growth of anti-Israel sentiment, and of course, the ongoing and growing threats to Israel in the Middle East rendering a "two-state solution" untenable (of course it was never a valid option), AIPAC's continued backing of a "two-state solution" and its inability to adapt to the reality described here, do not portend well for the future of this organization.

Obama
Gasp! Obama doesn't like Bibi?

It has been known for a while that the Obama administration took steps to undermine Prime Minister Netanyahu's most recent run for re-election, but the following report in today's Washington Times confirms the extent to which Obama went to "depose" Bibi:
The State Department paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayers grants to an Israeli group that used the money to build a campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in last year's Israeli parliamentary elections, a congressional investigation concluded Tuesday.

Some $350,000 was sent to OneVoice, ostensibly to support the group's efforts to back Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement negotiations. But OneVoice used the money to build a voter database, train activists and hire a political consulting firm with ties to President Obama's campaign - all of which set the stage for an anti-Netanyahu campaign, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations said in a bipartisan staff report.
