Good News for a Change

AFSI is pleased with two developments this week.

These developments are not about prejudice, racism or Islamaphobia. They are about recognizing right from wrong, about knowing the difference between what a moral, civil and democratic society is as opposed to one where terrorism threatens the country and its citizens.

We look forward to watching closely for further developments.
UN Condemns Terrorists'
Use of Human Shields

The United Nations General Assembly adopted an update of its Global Counter Terrorism Strategy today. Thanks to diplomatic efforts by Israel's Mission to the UN in cooperation with the United States Mission, this year's resolution included an unprecedented paragraph that condemns the use of civilians as human shields by terrorist organizations.

"Today's resolution is another important step in our efforts as we change the rules of the game at the UN," said Israel's Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon.
Supreme Court Upholds Travel Ban

A US Supreme Court ruling has upheld President Trump's travel ban, which prevents most immigrants, refugees and visa holders from five Muslim-majority countries - Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen, along with North Korea and Venezuela, from entering the US.

"The Proclamation is expressly premised on legitimate purposes: preventing entry of nationals who cannot be adequately vetted and inducing other nations to improve their practices," Chief Justice Roberts wrote. "The text says nothing about religion."

All You Need is Love?

We don't think so.

The White House has released an official transcript of Jared Kushner's June 24 interview with the Palestinian Arab newspaper Al Quds. It shows that Kushner subscribes to the oldest myth of the conflict—that average Palestinians are really just like us. He further states, "I do not underestimate humankind's ability to love."

AFSI agrees with Stephen Flatow's OpEd that Kushner holds a dangerously naive belief. It would take a complete overhaul of the P.A.'s media and school system, followed by generations of enlightened leadership and education, to change their values and attitudes.
Too Much Consideration for Terrorists

Prime Minister Netanyahu recently attempted to block a bill that would stop the transfer of funds to the PA as long as it pays stipends to terrorists and their families. The reason behind the bill is to stop PA incentivizing of terrorism.

Why would Bibi oppose legislation that is so obviously justifiable? Because Abbas threatens to continue paying terrorists for their foul deeds, regardless of any funds being withheld, from America or Israel.

Netanyahu is concerned that blocking the transfer of funds would precipitate the toppling of the PA, which would have negative ramifications for Israel - who would have to pick up the pieces - as well as for the Arabs.

AFSI thinks that by blocking the bill there is too much consideration being given to terrorists. Do you agree? Follow Mati Wagner's analysis HERE.
Just Say No!

A dwindling economy. Shouts of "Death to Palestine," "Help us, not Gaza," and "Leave Syria alone and deal with Iran." These are the cries of the Iranian people who are protesting in large numbers and expanding into more cities throughout Iran demanding that the government invest in the Iranian economy and not in other countries in the Middle East.

Iran Freedom, a popular Twitter account dedicated to bringing freedom and democracy to Iran, wrote that the protesters asked security forces to join the protests instead of breaking them up

We believe that these protests are the direct result of President Trump tearing up the disastrous Iran 'deal.' America has empowered the Iranian man in the street. We wish them success.
Release the UNRWA Report!

More than two years ago the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) began a comprehensive report on UNRWA education, which was completed in April. GAO sources confirm that the study conclusively documents that PA schoolbooks used by UNRWA use war indoctrination as a recurring theme.

On May 3 the GAO issued a statement that the US State Department won't allow the report to be released to the US Congress which had ordered the report in order to provide a guide to further US funding of UNRWA. Why? The U.S. State Department is still infected with anti-Israel ideology. The swamp must be drained!!

David Bedein discusses HERE.
Is Jordan the Missing Piece to Peace?

"As Abbas admits, the Palestinian Arabs and the Jordanians are one people. The Palestinian Arabs already have a State in Jordan. Since the UN claims the Arab-Israeli conflict can be solved though a UNSC resolution why not submit one declaring that Jordan is Palestine?"

We love that idea!

Iran Did the Impossible: Netanyahu's Message to the Iranian People
A Step in the Right Direction

Four months after the law went into effect, Poland amended its controversial Holocaust law that made it a crime punishable by up to three years in jail to say, "Polish concentration camps."

Polish lawmakers voted 388-25, with 5 abstentions, to water down the law and remove parts that imposed jail terms on people who suggest the nation was complicit in Nazi crimes.

A joint statement between Israel and Poland following amendments to the controversial Holocaust law was released.
Arabs Attack Samaria Resident

A resident of Dolev in Samaria reported that three suspects arrived at the Givat Asaf junction and began beating him with sticks and stones. Police called an ambulance and the resident was given first aid and taken to the hospital. The matter is under investigation.
Prince William's First Hand Experience?

One of AFSI's reliable sources reports in Israel Unwired, "You probably won't see this in the mainstream news.  Arab media sources (English translation) are reporting that on his drive north of Ramallah, 'palestinian' Arab kids threw stones at Prince William's car."
