Tuesday, May 31, 2016 TODAY'S CONTENT STOP BDS! AFSI Calendar of Events STOP BDS! Earlier today, the United Nations hosted more than 1,500 pro-Israel activists at an anti-BDS event. Most were students, with many also from communal Jewish organizations. The event, hosted by the Permanent Israeli mission to the United Nations was entitled "Building Bridges, Not Boycotts." Israel's UN Ambassador, Danny Danon, highlighted the event with a rousing speech, energizing the supporters of Israel who were gathered in a venue that is typically anti-Israel. Israel hosts largest ever anti-BDS summit at UN Headquarters Recently the BDS movement has had a few significant failures, most notably with the United Methodists, who voted to withdraw from the BDS group, U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation. Also, approximately half of US states have enacted or are considering anti-BDS legislation. There have been several victories on campuses, and even several wins against BDS in Europe. However, even with these successes, the enemies of Israel are strong and do not stop scheming. Israel, which for years had considered BDS to be nothing more than a minor irritant has finally woken up to the realization that it is a strategic threat not just to the state itself, but also to Jews around the world. This meeting at the UN is a testament to that realization. We must all join in the fight against BDS until it is demolished. The fight against BDS is a fight for Israel.
