In this year steeped in National politics, I received the following from Rebecca Harary, a friend I know as a supporter of children with learning difficulties and founding Executive Director of the Safra Community Center.  Rebecca Harary has just been given the opportunity to run for the NY State Assembly 73d district.  This is only a starting point for Rebecca, I am sure.

Rebecca Harary writes:  Dear Family and Close Friends,

It has often been said that, "Our future is filled with exciting possibilities that we all deserve to take a part in."

As you may already know, I have been invited by the Manhattan Republican Party to run for the office of NYS Assembly District 73, which is on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  I accepted the Party's invitation because just like you, I am a very proud New Yorker and I care about our beloved Community and our City's future.

In the last few years, we have all heard about the culture of corruption in Albany, climbing rates of homelessness and crime, higher tax mandates, and the failing of our children's education and safety in our city's schools.  Our future should look better, and I am excited about the many opportunities ahead.

In order to achieve these opportunities, however, somebody needs to take a stand.  I am that somebody.

Please join me tonight, Wednesday evening, for a light supper and dessert, from 7-9pm, at the Metropolitan Republican Club 122 E. 83 St.It will be a special evening as we formally launch my campaign to be our Community's representative in Albany. As your NYS Assembly Member, we will have a real voice in Albany...a voice that will not accept the status quo and will remain laser focused on achieving excellence while creating the opportunities we all want as New Yorkers.

Are you aware that New York State ranks 34th in education

among the States?  We must do better, far better!!

A brief biography

REBECCA HARARY,  FOCUSED ON NEW YORK

After working for years as a successful entrepreneur, Rebecca switched gears and moved into the non-profit realm, where she enjoys building organizations for people in need. Over the last 12 years, Rebecca has founded two non-profit schools; The Imagine Academy for Autism and The Yeshiva Prep High School for children with mild learning challenges.

Additionally, Rebecca recently finished her tenure as the Founding Executive Director of the Moise Safra Community Center, where she raised over $25 million for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Rebecca's current focus has been to build support and found an organization that benefits women seeking to join the work force. Rebecca is The Propel Network's Founding Executive Director.  Propel Network's vision is to help Jewish women discover and launch their career potential while empowering them to make positive changes in their lives..

Rebecca is also the mother of six wonderful children, and a grandmother. She and her husband of 32 years live in NYC.

All my best,

Rebecca

ONE last thought-If you know voters on the upper East Side, pass this along.  They might be able to attend, they might have friends and family in the district, surely they will want to meet Rebecca Harary, the next State Representative from the 73 district.
