LastDay
Today - the last day of the 2015 Fall AFSI Chizuk Mission

Today, Marc Prowisor of the One Israel Fund arranged an amazing itinerary for the group's last day. In the morning they took a jeep tour through the Judean hills, and later in the day they drove to the Jericho area where they met the Magilot Volunteer Desert Rescue Squad and learned about the critical work they do.

Later, they traveled to the Jewish community of Givat Ze'ev to show solidarity with the town's residents and to participate in a demonstration against the government's decision to demolish the Ayelet HaShachar Synagogue there.

It was announced earlier today that the Israeli Supreme Court denied a request to delay the synagogue's demolition:

The 2015 Fall AFSI Chizuk Mission concluded with a festive farewell gala dinner
at the Jerusalem Grill restaurant on Rivlin Street in Jerusalem.

We hope you enjoyed this day-by-day picture tour of
AFSI's 2015 Fall Mission, and are inspired to join AFSI on its
Spring 2016 Mission, May 31 - June 8.

Celebrate Yom Yerushalayim with AFSI in Israel!

Labels
EU Approves New Labeling Guidelines
for Israeli Products
The European Union, to their eternal shame, has just approved new labeling guidelines for Israeli products from beyond the "Green Line". This includes goods from Yehuda and Shomron, eastern Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.

As Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, "The E.U. should be ashamed." "The E.U. has decided to label Israel, and we are not prepared to accept the fact that Europe is labeling the side that is being attacked by terrorism."

This story is all over the press, and we link to a few articles, mainly from Arutz Sheva:

Lost
Is Europe Lost?

We are hearing more and more the concern coming from Europeans about the out-of-control influx of refugees from the Middle East to Europe. However, as he so cleverly does time after time for so many world events, Yaakov Kirschen captures the essence of this disaster in his Dry Bones cartoon below.

Westchester
Westchester County should be ashamed of itself!

Much to his credit, the Mayor of Munich, Germany said that he will ban from city buildings events that seek to delegitimize Israel:

Contrast this with the actions of Paul Finer and his minions in White Plains who bent over backwards to allow and support anti-Israel, pro-BDS groups holding meetings in their public spaces.

FOR SHAME, PAUL FINER (Town Supervisor, Town of Greenburgh, NY)

BETAR, Jabotinsky and the Shtetl
Throughout the 1930s, Jewish political movements in Warsaw set out to transform the hearts and minds of Jewish youth in small towns across Poland. Among these urban activists were the leaders of Betar, the youth movement of Vladimir Jabotinsky's Revisionist party. Armed with longstanding stereotypes about shtetl life, Betar leaders were certain that bringing "modernity" and "progress" to these towns would mobilize their youth for the Zionist cause. Drawing on YIVO's collection of youth autobiographies from the 1930s, and previously unexamined correspondence between Betar's headquarters in Warsaw and its small-town outposts, Daniel Heller (McGill University) reveals the tensions that arose between these urban activists and the young Jews they sought to transform.
